What at first seemed like a copy of "Airframe" with some added twists, turned out to be something entirely different. Through the eyes of Joe Carpenter, we learn the basic truths of this world: science is pure evil, religion is the answer to everything, evolution is just a myth, and last but not least, God exists. I don't know if Koontz himself believes all these things or if he just wrote a book in which things are portrayed as so, but nevertheless, this book seems to be written for the sole purpose of spreading these "truths". And if you don't happen to believe in them, which is the case with me, you won't enjoy the book.
