Time has passed this book by. Not only has the whole Freudian concept of everything being traceable back to the parents been proved to be entirely false, thus eliminating the whole point of the book, the mainstreaming of sex removes the sole remaining factor of the book, straight talk about sex. You're left with an absurd main character who frankly isn't very interesting as he doesn't seem to do much of anything, except blame his parents for everything that's wrong in his life. His various girlfriends have more personality than he has.
