The basic idea of his, that the appearance of vision was the cause of the Cambrian explosion, is only discussed on the last 30 pages or so. The previous 270 pages mostly discuss trilobites and such, which I'll manage to forget entirely in a few months, so I'm not sure why I wasted all that time reading about them.
