Another classic read, and this time it wasn't even too painful. I don't quite know how to approach this book, since I don't know how Kivi meant it to be. At times, at least to a modern reader such as myself, you can't help thinking that it must be a satire, but at other times it seems deadly serious. At least one misconception is now cleared, I always thought the main characters ended up badly, and through the whole later part of the book I was waiting for the inevitable disaster to happen, but it never did.
